3.7.11 This picture represents your silliness! It is one of Mama and Papa's favorite parts of your unfolding personality. We see this side of you everyday in our house. You love to joke with us, such as putting your paci away in your bed and then running and getting it 10 minutes later, seeing if we'll notice as you smirk with it in your mouth. On the other hand, you cling to my leg like a barnacle when we are in large groups. It definitely takes you awhile to warm up in a big setting where you know we "know these people." Mama thinks this is just a stage and relishes your desire to be right by her side...I know it won't always be this way!
3.8.11 Today you were humoring me as I tried a hat on you for your upcoming birthday. The funny thing is that you LOVE hats! You have been wearing them since you came out of the womb and maybe that's why you're totally accepting of this fashion accessory. Interestingly enough, Mama collected hats as a little girl and hung them as a border in her childhood room. I love watching you get frustrated if your hat falls off in the car and trying to put it back on yourself...you like them that much.
3.9.11 We met Roy and June at the Santa Ana Zoo this morning. They are such a sweet sibling pair and watching their relationship makes Mama super excited for you to have your sister as a new playmate! It's a pretty small zoo, but has lots of shady areas to walk around under and a great playground to eat lunch by. We loved watching the turtles in the pond, the swinging monkey, and playing on this jeep. You kept driving your friends to "Bella's house," your favorite place to visit.
3.10.11 The "3 Muskateers!" You are beyond blessed to have been born just a few months after your cousins, Gavin and Colby. Thursdays are usually designated for "Camp Cousin" where Mama gets us together with Auntie Jess, "Gavie," Auntie Court, Gracie, and "Cubby." You and Colby have a mutual affection for Thomas the Tank Engine and love to play trains together. Gavie makes you giggle and you frequently clobber him with affection (though not always to his liking). Mama can't believe that Auntie Jess is going to have a baby girl too just a few months after sister is born...such a blessed family!
3.11.11 For some reason you boycotted your nap today. Though you're not the best night sleeper, you have always been a consistently good napper. Mama let you play in your crib for almost an hour and then you started crying when you had thrown all your buddies and comforts onto the floor. Utterly exhausted, you fell asleep on me within a few seconds in the new glider I just purchased. Sister's blanket was the only one around, so I wrapped you up in it and cherished the chance to hold "my baby" in my arms for the afternoon. To quote Miss Taylor Swift, "Oh darling, don't cha ever grow up...ever grow up."
3.12.11 Playing with play dough is a current favorite activity. It mostly consists of you asking Mama or Papa to create favorite items of interest for you while you watch: Frosty the Snowman, Bob the Tomato, and Nemo, to name a few. Playdough has been a lifesaver on airplane rides, going out to eat at restaurants, and rainy days. I love that you are so interested in characters and make-believe right now.
3.13.11 If there is one thing motivating you to attend church right now, it is DONUTS! Ha! Getting dropped off in the nursery at Rock Harbor is still tearful for you, but they always tell me you are fine within a few minutes. When I picked you up today, you were helping your teachers clean up all the toys. Like your peers, you wait anxiously by the door to be picked up when the first parent starts arriving. Today, you were so happy when I picked you up, that you said, "I wuv you Mama...I wuv you teachers...I wuv you church." I like to bring you into the main service for the end of worship, since you are such a fan of music. And of course, I fulfill my promise to feed you your highly anticipated sprinkle donut!
